when I was new, I was reading skills. If my opponent said I've mistaked, I was rereading the skill. I even red the comprehensive of VG to better know my deck's abilities. And other deck abilities too :P

The one time I read compreensive rules was to find a loophole for Metalborg Sin Buster to not activate it's skill. However, Vanguard is not YGO. Everything is written on the card for God's sakes.
