You don't have to redownload the full game multiple times, You just had to redownload it once after the crash. Afterwards all you had to do was download the .exe files which were being updated which only comprised of like, 5 MB? Which was located in this thread.

And it's still being continuously updated, which is progressively getting more and more secured and protected from the DDoS attack(s).
