Each clan has perfect guards or quintet walls (mostly, Gear Chronicle does not have a quintet to my knowledge) and Spike Brothers is no exception. Granted it really depends on the cards you draw as to what your defense looks like when the attacks come, but that's the way it goes.

The Royal/Shadow Paladin are the easiest, noob-friendly clans with massive amount of both offense and defense.

Like Zeon recommended, SP is the best clan in terms of mostly, everything. Draw power with SBs and Aurageyser to build defense. Diablo and Abyss for massive offense. etc.
