Title: [Nova Grappler] Champion of the Galaxy - Blaukluger
Post by: Cherry on October 02, 2014, 03:43:39 AM
Grade 0: 17

1 Morgenrot
2 Regenbogen
2 Three Minutes
4 Red Lightning
4 Schones Wetter
4 Schneergen

Grade 1: 14

4 Blau Dunkelheit
4 Clay-doll Mechanic
4 Screamin' and Dancin' Announcer, Shout
2 Tough Boy

Grade 2: 11

4 Blaukluger
4 Jupiter Blaukluger
3 Mars Blaukluger

Grade 3: 8

2 Mond Blaukluger
3 Stern Blaukluger
3 Galaxy Blaukluger

This deck is old... But I still love it and it plays decently enough. The main idea is to basically generate absurd advantage with six draw triggers and Morgenrot. The most optimal Grade 3 order to ride in is: Stern > Mond > Galaxy. This way you get a 13 body and the Break Ride as an alternative win condition. Otherwise, just focus on Crossriding. The main thing about Galaxy is that there is no need to play "beat the opponent asap". It's about grinding. Galaxy Blau's pressure is devastating and the instant it hits it creates an extremely dangerous situation for the opponent. Their hand will drop like flies turn by turn as you tank their everything with a Crossride body. One could argue that it's better to just try to end the game faster but either way works in my opinion. Their hand is going to be draining by the second the minute you hit 4 damage, might as well stonewall them or hasten their defeat. Either way, if they take a hit, they're that much closer to the end.

The Grade 2 Blaukluger is the best Grade 2 ride for a free Morgenrot. That doesn't mean Blaupanzer is worth playing. If I want a stable 10 Defense, I'll ride Jupiter. Mars isn't that important. If you get him off, then yay. Otherwise, he's just a vanilla with Blau in his name. Shout filters deck, Claydoll opens more plays, Tough Boy is a failsafe against retiring and to make 18 with Jupiter against Crossrides. It makes 21 behind the champ.

There you go. Now here's to the true champ being the chosen for the Grade 3 Revival.

I always find that running only Blaukluger rears kind of hurts the idea of the breakride turn, only slightly, since you want your rears to swing before the vanguard, but to use Galaxy you want to have the vanguard resting before any Blau attack hits the vanguard. I would suggest running maybe 3 Grosse Bear instead of the Jupiter Blaus. And bump Mars up to 4. Also, instead of the 2 tough boy, you should go for the wolf. I know tough boy can hit 21k both swings if you've got a cross body, but if you can't get stern before its time to ride Galaxy, wolf becomes a 10k booster when he stands, Plus he works for boosting rearguards like Grosse Bear too.

Honestly I'd suggest -4 Jupiter, +1 Mars, +3 Grosse
Then -2 Tough Boy and -1 Shout, +3 Dancing Wolf
Grade 3 line up and Triggers look solid
Wish there were more actual blau grade 1's so Morgen could search boosters, but what can you do? I would normally suggest running Blaupanzer, for Klueger to be a solid 10k but that would require removing shout and just isn't necessary, though he can cycle for Stern if you needed it.

In the event of the Break Ride turn, the front row rearguards will be hitting their intercepts instead of hitting the Vanguard before the Break Ride skill activates. I don't need a maxed Mars, I need stable Blaus in general. Baer fixes the ruling issue if they have no intercepts to swing at, but in that case, I'm still losing out on a precious restanding chance. The only thing I could really do is just... try to figure out how to play around it or mess with the Grade 2 lineup a bit. I could find space for 2 Baer, possibly. As for Dancing Wolf: I can try it out in the case of Crossride failure, though since I'm skeptical on Baer, it won't be useful behind most rearguards...

I wish Bushi would give Blaus some decent Grade 1s in general. Doesn't have to be Blau in name but good support for Blaus would be amazing.

Leprachaun is good but blaus need their cbs so-
The 10k Booster is also good, but blaus generally don't have the soul to keep it up, Thus he can't quite cut it all the time.

Also, I suggest Bear only because you're running the BR and the chance of your opponent now filling their front row isn't a low one.
They could do it on purpose to mess with the break ride turn.
Wolf also helps you swing at crossrides and during any given turn, if you pull off the BR stand twice, which shouldn't be hard if you get Galaxy's stand off, he'll be sitting on 13k power, which will help any column swing at a 11k vanguard.

The problem with worrying about losing a restand chance with blaus is that, if you do focus too much on it, your opponent can make a break ride turn practically useless.
Also don't forget that your grade 3's are all Blau's and thus they can all act as a second blau rear if neede
