Title: Cardfight Area problem!
Post by: Mystel on July 13, 2014, 08:07:09 AM
Ok so yesterday I changed my computer from Windows xp to windows 7, and then redownloaded Cardfight Area but it's coming up with the message, Failed to initialize drawing surfaces. Make sure you graphics card makes the minimum requirments and that the drivers are up to date if the graphics card has low memory switch it to a lower resolution.

I have never had a problem using this graphics card before changing to windows 7, I have no problem using it on any opther games, just CFA.

Double check for drivers and try using lowest resolution or lower than the resolution you are currently on if that works. Since I presume your graphics card still has a high memory and trying a lower resolution didnt help it's probably either it's broken or there's something wrong with cfa download. Sry if it's wrong (which it probably is) not too genius with computers :-\

I use Windows 7 too and to decrease resolution try going to accessories go to Control panel adjust screen resolution. :)

Look for the problem in Google.
Remember this is a problem in GameMaker.

Two things. First:
Look for the problem in Google.
Remember this is a problem in GameMaker.
I've LOOKED. Any thread there has no working solution - not for the person who originally brought up the problem on the site, nor for me.
So some more advice other than "Search the web" would be nice... I spent 8 hours trying to fix this game, and a lot of it was spent searching the web. I can tell you, that won't help/

Secondly, while this sort of error has cropped up in other games, the problem has - to my experience- always been solved by making the game run windowed after the launcher (the screen with Blaster Blade and Blaster Dark on it as well as a red loading bar). For League - and apparently, Cardfight Area - this is not possible. So Perhaps in a future update you could give us a way to run the game in windowed form after the loading screen? That could fix this issue. Thanks!

EDIT: Couple of clarifications, and a quick heads-up: I have found a way to run League windowed, but have yet to try it with a window size smaller than that of my monitor. Running it at equal size did show promise - the blackscreen lasted more than a few seconds and the custom cursor appeared some, so I think I ALMOST had it working. So having Cardfight Area run windowed  from the get-go (assuming the default is fullscreen) MIGHT just work. Now, if I can only figure out how...

...Not sure if a bump is needed, but this thread's getting one - I REALLY want this fixed, and the lack of further posts worries me.
