Title: [BF] Purgatory Knights Fight Each Other Just As Much!
Post by: Leobwin on February 19, 2015, 07:43:25 PM
Now that the deck's finally been polished enough that I'm not that ashamed, here's the Buddyfight deck I'll be playing at the very least until Set 6 comes out.  I'm really looking for any helpful critiques, as well as just any things I may not have thought about.

World: Darkness Dragon World
Buddy: Purgatory Knights, Evil Glaive Dragon

Monsters: 23
S2: 4
4x Purgatory Knights Leader, Demios Sword Dragon
S1: 12
4x Purgatory Knights, Gairahm Lance Dragon
4x Purgatory Knights, Evil Glaive Dragon
4x Purgatory Knights, Troubadour Dragon

S0: 7
3x Purgatory Knights, Crossbow Dragon
4x Purgatory Knights, Knuckleduster Dragon

Items: 6
4x Purgatory Sword, Fatal
2x Evil Death Scythe

Spells: 21

(Misc): 2
2x Death Damage

(Defense): 11
4x Black Dragon Shield
4x Death Grip
3x Dark Energy

(Draws): 8
4x Abyss Symphony
2x Life Dwells In The Flames of Hades Too
2x Purgatory Knights Forever

Sideboard: 7 (Not really sure what to give the last 3 slots to, haven't had a particularly bad game with the deck yet)
Spells: 5
2x Death Damage (If I need that extra S3 destruction)
2x Guillotine Cutter (Purgatory Knights, Sword Breaker Dragon may also work here, I just prefer Cutter)
1x Dark Energy (For heavier removal decks)

Impacts: 2
2x Distortion Punisher (All-Purpose Game Ender, useful for finishing off Ritter, otherwise just here because I have the space in the Sideboard at the moment and I have an infatuation with impact finishes)

The only question I've really had someone ask is about the Death Damage.  The deck just can't deal with large creatures any other way, and maybe they'd be better in the sideboard, but there's just enough space for them in the main for the two copies, the other two of which are in the board.

Crossbow dragon at a 3 of seems kinda strange too I guess, I found that 8 size 0s were pointless and often resulted in a dead draw when I didn't have any Purgatory Knights already, and the deck doesn't really use THAT much gauge to the point where I want the gauge over an extra crit S0.

The Evil Death Scythes could also be looked at strangely, it's really just there to insist that I get a weapon in my deck, and it's almost the same as Fatal; same stats, Spectral Strike has been relevant over the Purgatory Blade's effect in 1 game, where it won me the game but it normally doesn't matter.

Ultimate Buddy combos make me giggle, but it's way too much of a dead card in the deck most of the time.  I've just found this deck to be highly efficient at killing, and the 8 Draw spells make it really easy to reload the hand after a particularly costly turn of Demios/Lance.

Personally, I don't like the two copies of Life Dwells in the Flames of Hades Too, but the draw is important and it can sometimes be a free Abyss Symphony at later stages of the game (not usually the case early on, people tend to target Purgatory Knights heavily so no Demios combos).

Any other cards you're curious about, feel free to ask!  I'd also really like help finishing up those last 3 slots in the sideboard!

you could drop symphony and max the other 2 draw cards if you wanted
also if you have trouble dealing with large monsters use under blade dragon

Probably should've added this in the post, but I'm trying to build a deck I could assemble in real life!  That promo should come along with set 6, and I'll probably drop him in the sideboard.  Personally, I find the PK draw spell is way too weak, as most people are already cautious about hitting me when there are PKs to be killed, and running 4 of the take 2 damage...  I could see that, but it feels like a lot of damage in my deck, even if I'm super unlikely to see all 4.

But thanks for your input~  Any other suggestions are welcome too!
