Title: [VG][Aqua Force] Blue Wave Transcendence, Second Wind!
Post by: [F.A] Galleon on October 27, 2015, 05:47:09 PM
Galleon's back with another AqF Deck Profile? Oh Snaps. New Update just came out, and I'm sure we're all eager to drown in all the Aqua Force, but no worries, Galleon is here to help you not suck at Aqua Force Deckbuilding!

Fun-fact: Second Wind is a phenomena where someone out of breath suddenly finds the strength to carry on ((Hmm, sounds like Tetra,))

((Aqua Force Practical Lessons, Against and As Aqua Force sold separately!))

Going to try a slightly different format this time!

Starter Vanguard: Officer Cadet, Erikk

Plain and simple, it's a Grade 3 Searcher Vanguard. It's nice synergy with Penguin Soldier Turn 2 and the fact that Blue Waves can fight on both fronts ((Grade 2/Stride)) with their respective Vanguards make Erikk a great consistency booster. More 11K Attackers when you need them is also amazing.

Alternatives:
Bubble Edge Dracokid.

Needless to say, due to Blue Wave's VG Wave 2 Playstyle, Bubble Edge is perfect for that free +1 when you have it all set up.... However, It's pretty gimmicky, let's not forget retires exist. Not to mention, it makes people fall into the Noob-trap of calling two Tidal assaults on their Grade 2 Turn, because 'Woooah I can draw two cards with it!!' ... No. Bad AqF player, that'll kill you.

Officer Cadet, Andrei

I'm sure it's pretty obvious I'm not too much of a fan of GB because of the infestation of the Grade 2 meta-game, but the truth is, Andrei is a very solid starter if you manage to use him, However like Bubble Edge, It can be retired... Not to mention that it won't save you from Grade 2s pummeling your face in.

No-Nos:
Blue Wave Dragon, Daggermaster Dracokid

It's really just a slower Bubble Edge, the Critical is NOT worth the slowness, especially since it can be played around.... No Guarding Tetra-Boil's First attack was already a no brainer if possible as that's less trigger checks. This just makes that plan all the more appealing. Please don't.

Triggers: 8 Criticals, 4 Draws 4 Heal

Let's be honest here, Stands synergize PRETTY POORLY with Blue Waves, while on the other hand, Criticals are amazing. Putting your opponent to 5 ASAP or creating immense pressure of a Critical Trigger Boosted Foivos or Tidal is just amazing. If you really want to, you can honestly run 12 Criticals, however, my babe Marika has been with me since forever, and she's stayin' that +3K Power comes in handy sometimes. Heals are self-explainatory..

Your First Critical Trigger option is ALWAYS. Blue Wave Soldier, Brutal Trooper. his effect is just obscene.... A WASH and putting a Critical BACK to the deck? Wow that's a good trigger. Combine with any of the Tetras and you get a FREE +1? Bushiroad... What are you even thinking this trigger is completely broken... I don't care if you don't want Criticals in your deck. You better have 4 of him in your deck.

Your next options are of course, Supersonic Sailor and Kelpie Rider, Petros.

Supersonic Sailor provides that unfilp that might just allow you to restand for the game, honestly too valuable to pass up.

Why Petros? Well, Commander Thavas is still a Thavas, so It's a wash and a Soul-boost which is great for Penguin. Of course, this means it's quite situational, but you might think you don't want the unflip, But, if you feel like running twelve criticals, this is obviously the last trigger to go for.

Draws:
Battle Siren Marika,

I've talked about how good it was on my last AqF Deck Profile, so I don't think I'll bother. You shouldn't be using more than 4 Draw triggers, so stop at Marika..

Stands:
AHAHAHAHAHA. No.

Heals:
... Whatever fancies you, they're all vanilla.

Grade 1s: 13
4x Platon
3x Nicky
3x Penguin Soldier
3x Wheel Assault - Swap this for Alternatives

Platon is your Sentinel, pretty self explanatory, it has an unfilp that might just win you a game.

Nicky is your Stride Fodder, Do I really need to explain this? He doubles as a 7K Booster which is useful

Penguin Soldier, SB(2) For a Free 5K Booster? Sign me up, With Triggers like Marika/Supersonic Sailor/Petros. These penguins will be providing that sweet sweet free 5K Boost you need.

Wheel Assault is honestly where the Alternatives come in. Wheel Assault exists for more 4th battle options, not being GB(1) < Important, allows you to pummel your insolent Grade 2 opponent with Tetra Drive's Limit Break if need be.

Alternatives:

Mako Soldier

Hate those Grade 2s? Hate Pulling a Heal trigger on your First Tetra Drive attack? Mako is here for you to obliterate your foe with Tetra Drive's Limit Break.

Sutashia:

She may be a GB unit, but her backrow attacking capabilities is pretty hard to pass up. Especially since it synergizes so well with Anger-Boil. Simply use her as a boost on Wave 1, and Stand her and the unit in front of her with Wave 2, and you have two 5K guard attacks ready to unleash hell.

Grade 2: 11
4x Tidal Assault
4x Foivos
3x Lazarus - Swap this for Alternatives

Tidal Assault, the OG, Once again I went on a tangent on my previous deck profile about how Versatile and great Tidal Assault is, so I won't be explaining it. Tidal Assault is the best AqF Grade 2.

Foivos, the new kid on the block for Blue Waves, needless to say, he works REALLY well with the deck, being a non-GB CB(1) 11K Double attacker, he really does his job well. However, he is restricted to Wave 3, which can be a good and bad thing, but it means he isn't flexible, nor is he free like Tidal Assault.

Lazarus, Woah a 10K Vanilla? Yeah well, my Hatred for Grade 2s knows no bounds, and riding Lazarus, especially in a mirror match, can give you a pretty huge edge. But of course, that's not the only reason, if he's only useful on the Grade 2 turn, he wouldn't be really be worth running. With Anger-boil, Lazarus serves as a pretty decent attacker. Pair him up with a Sutashia or Penguin Soldier for Wave 1, and watch them swing for 5k and 15K afterwards, or 10K and 2 5Ks afterwards. Of course, a Sutashia-boosted Lazarus is way more flexible

Alternatives:
Couple Dagger Sailor:

Want more 4th Battle enablers? Want to pummel your opponent really hard for being a Grade 2 against Tetra-Drive? Now you can. But of course, its synergy with Anger boil isn't the best.

Magnum Assault:

Like Sutashia, Magnum Assault is still a very solid Grade 2 and is worth considering. For obvious reasons I won't state.

Sabre Flow Sailor:
Brutal Trooper not enough Draws for you? Bubble Edge not enough Draws for you? Go nuts. Key thing to note is that Sabre Flow Sailor synergies very poorly with Foivos in play if you don't have other 4th battle options. If you're running a 12 crit Variant, Sabre Flow really increases in value, so that's a thing to consider.

No-nos:

High Tide Sniper:
Not worth it, period. that soul is better spent on Penguin Soldier.

Grade 3: 9
4x Blue Wave Dragon, Anger-boil Dragon
4x Blue Wave Dragon, Tetra-Drive Dragon
1x Benedict - Swap this for Alternatives

Anger-boil Dragon, your Stride Base, the guy that will serve you well if your opponent actually bothers to be a Grade 3. It's On-stride ability is amazing, Also... It's a Blue Wave, nuff said.

Tetra-Drive Dragon, your Limit Break Grade 3, the guy that will serve you well if your opponent decides to be a Grade 2. Do not underestimate it's Limit Break, because it can really turn around a situation where you are rushed and backed to the corner at 4 damage. Also, It's a Blue Wave, and with Brutal Trooper, now you're fighting back that rush hard.

Benedict, Ah, the Grade 3 Tidal Assault.  Being a grade 3, it comes with a nice boon of being able to be searched by Erikk, and can serve as Stride fodder if need be. Just like Tidal Assault he has glorious synergy with Anger-boil, Lambros.... Basically, everything that makes Tidal Assault good, you now have a 5th copy, of course it can't intercept, but what are you gonna do... and on the off-chance your Opponent is 10K, well he's in for a treat.

Alternatives:

Honestly, if you're not going to use Benedict as your 9th and last Grade 3, I really recommend just going 8 Grade 3s and put that 1 extra slot in your Grade 1 or Grade 2, use the alternatives to play around with your ratios.

G-Deck:
Blue Wave Marshal Dragon, Tetra-boil Dragon x4
Marine General of Heavenly Silk, Lambros x2
Storm Dominator, Commander Thavas x2

Of course since it's a G-deck it's flexible, so let's go over the options

Blue Storm Master Dragon, Admiral Maelstrom
Yeah, just no we're not using Maelstrom, even if we were, this stride is just pathetically underwhelming.

Run: 0 Copies

Blue Wave Marshal Dragon, Tetra-Boil Dragon:
Blue Wave's Ace Monster, Anger-Boil's Partner. Tetra-boil is currently the ONLY non-minus Stride Restander, akin to Tetra-Drive. Needless to say, it is a very powerful finisher unit, it's called 'Aqua Force's Strongest G-Unit" in the Anime, and they aren't exactly wrong, more on that later. Playing 3 Copies of Tetra-boil is a valid strategy and it can work as a First-stride as you would trigger Anger-boil's strong stride ability.

Run: 2 to 4 Copies

Marine General of Heavenly Silk, Aristoteles
An unassuming G-unit, but a easy targeted retire for CB(1) has its uses, especially against decks like Revengers, Sniping off Judgbau is a huge deal. However, he can conflict with Foivos, so watch out for that.

Run: 0 to 1 Copies

Marine General of Heavenly Scales, Tidal-bore Dragon
Ah, AqF's First G-unit. Even now it's a pretty decent first-stride, nothing much to say here, it's a versatile on-hit +1 that almost every clan have.

Run: 0 to 1 copies

Marine General of Heavenly Silk, Lambros
The infamous G-unit, 'Lambroke' as people like to call him, Still as powerful as he was in every other deck, however, once again, he might conflict with Foivos, and Foivos cannot perform the infamous extra 10K and 5K (Unboosted) attacks that Tidal Assault can with Lambros. However, in Blue Waves, Lambros is taking a backseat, more on that later.

Run: 2 Copies

Storm Dominator, Commander Thavas
The GR of the Clan Booster. Thavas is actually quite useful as his name is Thavas, which enables Petros, However, Thavas's only role in a Blue Wave Deck, is to act as a First Stride for the deck, which conveniently enables Anger-boil's GB2 if you are forced to use it the following turn. His ability to give +5K and backrow attacking ability to ANY unit by simply flipping himself is an amazing ability, especially if given to Tidal Assault or Foivos, this also places them at the Backrow, which protects them, preserving them for your Tidal-boil turn.

Run 0 or 2 Copies

Marine General of Heavenly Silk, Socrates
Another G-unit that doesn't actually conflict with Foivos, however, he uses up precious Counterblasts, and as a First Stride, Thavas is almost if not as effective as Socrates.

Run 0-1

Torrential Ripple, Podromos
Yeaaah, We're not running Ripples, he's a complete vanilla for us.

Run 0:

Tetra-boil vs Lambros
We are all familiar with Lambros's ridiculous power by now. However, the Math has been done and Tetra-boil on top of Anger-boil is a better finisher. Not to mention It synergizes well with Foivos, unlike Lambros.

However, Lambros can be better if your VG is Tetra-Drive instead and Lambros can be used as a First Stride in an attempt to immediately close out a game, hence his place as a 2-copy and Tetra-Boil taking more space instead.

Conclusion:
I cannot say that my current build of Blue Waves is the definite perfect build for Blue Waves, however, I'm VERY confident that the best Blue Wave build will be made from the cards and the alternatives stated in this post. That is all.

Enjoy your Blue Waves,
Galleon.
