Title: Are you ready for this Jelly? [Oracles]
Post by: Lequier on August 28, 2014, 07:14:57 PM
1 Battle Sister, Eclaire
4 Battle Sister, Ginger
4 Oracle Guardian, Nike
4 Psychic Bird
4 Battle Sister, Chai

4 Battle Sister, Chocolat
4 Battle Sister, Lemonade
4 Oracle Guardian, Gemini
3 Weather Forecaster, Miss Mist

4 Battle Sister, Macaron
4 Battle Sister, Pudding
4 Silent Tom

4 Battle Sister, Jelly
2 Battle Sister, Parfait

This is a deck that I have been playing around with, since it's seen a decent amount of play and has actually taken places away from Abyss Seekers in recent times. With the sheer amount of sustainability that this deck has just from Jelly existing, it's not difficult to see why this deck has been taking spots from the big dogs either.

12 Crits are there because you don't need the draw triggers. You should be able to find everything on the merit of it being Oracle Think Tank regardless, since Jelly draws you 3 cards deeper every single time you use it anyway. 4 Chocolat and 3 Miss Mist basically allow you to play 7 Perfect Guards, since everything that's relevant in today's metagame is a Legion anyway. The only way people can outplay Miss Mist is by not Legioning and even then Miss Mist actually has a shield value unlike actual Perfect Guards. Lemonade is the Battle Sister that you're going to be putting behind Jelly in order to hit crucial 28 columns that also let you draw again with Jelly's skill (or nearly anyway!) Gemini is there in order to push Jelly up to a 31k center column while also pushing up Silent Tom to be a 16. These are incredibly important numbers against standard 11k Vanguards.

Macaron is a standard 12k attacker, shouldn't require much more elaboration than hitting numbers without a booster. Pudding's good early game pressure when you want to start unflipping damage that is also able to pump up rearguards in the late game if it gets through. Tom is still one of the best Oracle Think Tank cards, since it forces your opponent to basically have a Perfect Guard or go bust. Stacking Crits on Tom is still the best feeling in the world, even after all of this time.

Parfait's the back-up because it can actually do something pre-Limit Break while also being on an 11000 body. Battle Sisters don't really have anything like her right now, so it's important to play her.

Thoughts/Opinions would be helpful as I may be missing something in the grand scheme of things.

Surprised you don't run Battle Sister Cocoa and 8 grade 3's

Since you can make room with it since 4 Lemonades seem a bit too much but that's just me. Other than that, your deck looks good.

Surprised you don't run Battle Sister Cocoa and 8 grade 3's

Since you can make room with it since 4 Lemonades seem a bit too much but that's just me. Other than that, your deck looks good.

I'll be addressing the points you brought up in terms of my thought process in 3 different sections

1) Battle Sister Cocoa
2) 8 Grade 3s
3) 4 Lemonade

1) From what I can understand about using Cocoa, she's just there to make sure that you're going to be getting cards that are good and filters away the bad ones. The problem that I have with it is that it doesn't really do a whole lot outside of that. It's not a good number so you can't put it behind an RG and swing for something that'll force out 10 unless that card is something like Macaron. Basically I just don't feel like it does enough to warrant playing it, especially with it's power.

2) 8 Grade 3s has been brought up to me quite a bit, but I really dislike that concept. The problem with play 8 Grade 3s in this deck is that you get tied down with too many Grade 3s that you're never going to play, since the only one you really want to ride once you find Jelly is Jelly anyway. Parfait's just there because it has Twin Drive, 11000 and a skill that doesn't suck if you're in a losing position. Since this deck wants to find as much shield as possible at all times, playing 8 Grade 3s would really hurt that idea and end up clumping your hands with a bunch of 0 shields.

3) 4 Lemonade is actually one of the things I'm most confident in never changing in this deck. It's never a massive problem, since I just call Lemonade behind the Vanguard every single time and don't care about retiring the other one. Since I'm playing 4, there's a good chance that I'll find one early enough that I can start to use Jelly lots without caring too much about how many CBs I'm going to have left open. Any less than 4, in my testing, is wrong due to it being such a big player in the overall BS Jelly strategy.

My only concern is maybe a wee too much Lemonade. Maybe swap 1 Lemonade to Miss Mist?
