Title: Tournament Suggestions/Ideas
Post by: Sirvat on September 27, 2015, 04:39:28 PM
Hey Everyone as there seems to be a number of players with there on tournament ideas, so i decided to make this topic in order to allow you to freely tell me what kind of tournament you would like to have, and I will whole it during one of the following weeks for players who dont have time or I will help you in anyway I can to make sure your tournament is organized as possible. There are some rules down below which I expect you to follow when making your tournament suggestions.

Suggestions/Idea Rules

1.)When posting your suggestion, I only ask that you explain to me in full detail what type of tournament you want it to be and rules. You can also tell me the time at which you would like the tournament to take place and I would also like you to give me a time which you will most likely be available incase I need to discuss the rules with you. I will reply to everyone ideas and give you a time and date at which I might host the tournament if I feel your rules etc are fair.

Topic Rules

1.) Don't spam tournament ideas! Meaning don't just post each every tournament Idea in your head either wait until I have replied to your first idea, or try to put everything in one post.
2.) Don't try to steal other people ideas and make them your own. If you still choose to do so you will receive wp.

This topic will be updated with more rules depending on what happen in the future.

A tournament with time attack battles would be great. a battle lasting 30min and each player has to go to battle phase in 3mins. When 30mins is over the player with the highest damage loses and if a player gets 6 damage before timer runs out he loses. Delay in replying whether he guards or no guards will result to considering it as no guard. clans wich uses more skills in main pahse can given an exception. The time limit can be extended if anything happens in the future.

a tournament like Asia Circuit with special rules for each round like:
* you can only stand three rears during your stand phase (vg always stands)
* the fight starts with 2 damages each player, and the player who reaches 8 damages loses
* Rear Guards can drive check when they attack, if so, the card checked is placed at the bottom of the deck

stuff like that

I love this idea.

I'll do this.

I have an idea. How about we do a created card tournament. We know that the cfa creators and those who make unofficial updates know how to add cards. So how about we do a tourney where each clan has 3 created cards (fan voted of course).

Then we play a regkar tournament but with the 3 new cards in each clans deck.
All we'd need is just a poll for each clan to determine what 3 cards will be used, and the cfa card template. Anyone in the tournament would just download a special update with the new cards inside and only use them during the tournament.

Winner gets standard prizes. Sleeves

a tournament of nations, where you have limited number of players play clans from any given nation. Like 5/5/5/5/5/5 or something like that. Then they are split in groups and each nation fights every other nation. The nation that wins more games wins. Prizes are 1 sleev for every member of winning nation and +1 sleev for a person of any nation who won the most games during tournament.
Kappa.

I was thinking that maybe there could be monthly or weekly tournaments and as a prize the winners get to request custom sleeves.

Organizing it might the hardest part. I guess they could display when the next tournaments gonna be in the forums, in their discord room and on the main webpage with a link where players can go and sign up with their in-game accounts. A few days later they could display the tournament pairings then if players don't show up on the day and time of the tournament they'd get disqualified and the people that do show up would proceed with the tournament.

Maybe they could implement an entire section/map in the game for the tournaments. Locked off from players who haven't signed up for the tournament.

Oh and there'd have to be referees to oversee each match to ensure no cheating.  :)

Just an idea. :D Seems reasonable and I think it would be a nice addition to the game.

Most tournaments are monthly, as they are planned at the hosts time of convenience. But the tournaments are usually hosted by moderators (not necessarily the administrators or creators of CFA but they do help out) so being able to put up tournament links on the main page would uh take more effort.

Outside of that, most if not all of the tournaments do exactly as suggested: registration takes place on the tournament thread as well as round announcements (which are also done via their own chats and the in-game chat), as well as needing to communicate with the tournament host/mods for any cheating or issues that should occur mid-game, and if players do not show up on time they are either dropped from the bracket before the tournament or are given a loss after a certain amount of time. Pairings and such are also announced via the bracket after registration closes and prizes are sleeves which a good chunk of them are sleeves made by the administration or by some of the communities artistic and creative people.

Also tournaments are held in the least crowded places of CFA but usually in South Forest (because that's where team battles primarily take place at but if majority of team members are in tournament, chances of TBing is less meaning less populated. That, or people who don't live under a rock or are courteous enough to just move their TB to some place else will just do that to prevent interference.). But the tournament thread will tell you the location of the event will take place and what time you need to be there to 'check-in'.
