The GR is more than likely Graywon.

What Cray Elementals are there to be printed in a manga booster exactly?

Well she's a blaster. That's something right. I mean Wingal Brave can activate from boosting her, she can be called by starcall. And other than that she's pretty much vanilla :/
Title: Re: G Comic Booster 1: Vanguard & Deletor
Post by: Cherry on August 21, 2015, 06:56:33 PM
Lola should've done something more, but making Alfred an 11k that can't be removed with a field-wide effect (like Tempest Bolt or Blaster Joker) is amazing in itself. Shining Swordsman Gaiden units focusing on the Season 1 Royal Paladins is an interesting move, so units will likely revolve around OG Alfred or Alfreds in general (hopefully the latter for Alfred Early shenanigans and XIV techs too). As it stands, making OG Alfred an 11k that hits 21 is something nice. However, considering that if you play the deck you'll want Ezzell, it doesn't do as much as Bushi would want.

She's searchable by Brave and stuff, which is something to.

Okay start for showing off what the Royals of Leader and Deletor are doing. It'd be neat if we got Graywon-centered Deletors then.

the more blasters they add, the more targets there are for wingal brave/starcall trumpeter.

i'm not confident on this, but doesn't ezzell also reap the benefits of lola during your turn since legion is essentially both units combined? if it doesn't, then alright, but if it does, then ezzell can search it and lola wasn't boosting anyway, just like lien. only difference is that your net advantage is a bit...different.

32k is also a much less relevant number, but i guess if someone was randomly playing majesty lord blaster...lol

If you do, search your deck for up to one card with "Alfred" in its card name, ride it as [Stand], and shuffle your deck. If you rode, choose a card named "Knight of King's Lieutenant, Galehalt" from your soul, and call it to (RC).

This thing is quite the little revolutionary that puts the Ezer promo (not the legion) out of a job. Not only does he immediately secure Alfred, but he turns himself into a rearguard, and threatens to refund half of his cost every time he swings. Even more so the fact that you can even Stride as soon as you Superior Ride and get him as a rearguard. You can be cute and use it with Alfred Early if you have Blaster Blade in your soul to get two rearguards and a new vanguard out of the deal. Mind you, Alfred Early is still bad.

Also, it wasn't posted here, but Madu is getting reprinted in this Comic Booster. That's really neat because the Royal Paladin deck is focusing on King of Knights, Alfred from the looks of it. Which is a 10 Vanguard, meaning Madu is a brilliant choice of reprints to sell this idea. A creative form of revival, as everything could potentially push out the need for Ezzell if consistent enough.

In addition to all of that, if Royal Paladin Monarch Alfred shows up in this booster, then it's definitely a Crossride or a Stride. Stride makes sense if it requires an Alfred Heart, which this is made to set up for. Crossride could be to urge you to ride Galehalt on top of OG Alfred in order to get 13000 base the next turn after. You can still get a stride either way to keep up in advantage. In that case, the combo would be ride OG Alfred and discard Galehalt. Then Stride Madu to get Galehalt back while getting a Triple Drive. Finally, you ride Galehalt and Crossride.

I don't put any money on Galehalt actually hitting, however. If I did, I'd honestly play him in Seekers.

This booster so far has impressed me with its ideas, and we've only seen two (three if reprints count) out of it. I'm going to greatly enjoy this.

Swordsman of Light, Blaster Javelin Larousse

[AUTO]:[Choose two cards from your hand, and put them into your soul] When this unit is placed on (RC), if you have a vanguard with "Alfred" in its card name, you may pay the cost. If you do, search your deck for up to two <High Beast>, call them to separate open (RC), and shuffle your deck.

Yet another card that's years late.

Another Wingal Brave target at least. Oh, and, of course, Swordmy promotion. Call this and use it to Superior Call a Grade 1 behind it and Swordmy, then Swordmy gets another Grade 1. Bushi, I sure hope you go through with whatever you put Swordmy on the watchlist for.

Not really any good targets in this era that archetypes his targets are homed in can't grab easily already. I assume this'll change that. If Monarch is a Crossride, maybe Lionmare Stallion could be a viable pick since this fills soul.

Does more than the other Deletor bosses for one card less (Wokshiz and Chaos are 4 total), and Igor basically makes this CB1 Retire 1. Still a gigantic disappointment with having Delete End removed and no answer to Stride, so manga integrity was entirely lost on this card aside from the promoted use of Banish Delete. Your Grade 3 lineup becomes Graywon and Zwill. Problem is you're just playing the same deck but you don't spend 50 cards to make a play that gets erased when your opponent strides.

Some sort of lock down would've been nice man... Give it a Wokshiz clause where the opponent has to discard to normal ride, make them pay more for Stride... something...

Ugh, why couldn't you just keep to what you showed in the manga like Blaster Javelin did?

This does give hope for rearguards, however. They'll likely get a card or several that rewards them for a massive amount of banish deletes. In addition to that, they'll probably get cards that capitalize on your turn when your opponent's Vanguard is deleted. And maybe some hope that something gives Graywon his auto-win. Some more hope they actually do get counters.

The GR is either Monarch Alfred, Ark Saver, or the Deletor Stride seeing as this is 005 in Card Number.

Lord Graywon finally descends and now I hate him. Thanks Bushi. At the very least, you've shown that you want to focus on Banish Delete in a format where Legion is gradually being pushed out. So I assume you have an answer to this as well, which is the only thing I'll be looking forward to out of Deletors.

yeah i don't think this is actually a great rrr at all, but it's a very interesting card because it targets any blaster blade.

so right now you can call original, seeker, spirit or burst legally, with the best targets probably being the first three. burst is mostly a "lol i don't have anything else and a 10k is probably enough idk" target. seeker and og seem the best, but spirit isn't bad either as a 10k that hits the front row, similarly to seeker.

ark saver is probably going to be what decides the alfred i'm using to screw around with. if it's not specifically king of knights, i'm going to test the hell out of xiv + alfred support, just as a fun side deck.

So that's what they meant by Yunos being a key unit. The problem with Axe was that he was a Grade 2, which wasn't an ideal Grade. However, with Yunos as a Grade 1, he becomes a safe 12k booster off of Violinist, Ahmes, and the like. That's really good.

Ruchi isn't bad by any means but Igor's draw and unflip are just better.

The more I read Gaian, the less reason I see to play it. Until we see the unit who benefits off of a certain number of Banish Deletes, and even when we see it, a 10k booster isn't making that much a difference. Usually, you want Aiida boosting in the first place. Aiida, Ganowek, and Graydoll should be your priorities of who uses your soul. This lets you hit great numbers, but it goes back to an age old problem with the deck: Your opponent can just not guard these big powers early and not care. Pressure off of Aiida is an example of what created a pressing need to stop Deletors from hitting and getting constant advantage off their ass.

For lategame, this is actually very good, provided you have the extra soul left. Chances are you have a reride or one last card in soul, so you can make a harsh push with 3k extra, then Givun. Mind you, Wokshiz easily solves an problems involving soul himself. Yet, for some stupid reason, this is Gray restricted.

I get the idea of pushing Graywon's deck, but this being Gray specific just stops any of the other Grade 3s from getting better. It's idiotic because Alba and Elro help Wokshiz a lot, and this could have also helped him.

The Deletor removed any doubts on running Stands over Draws. Now with it, Aiida, and Ganowek, Draw Triggers are out of the deck. Even better that this can be used with Wokshiz, unlike Gaian. It's not GB1 and doesn't required a deleted vanguard, so early game cycling is very nice. It's overall a +0 by itself but it's still amazing for everything it can do. Gives you cycling against Grade 2 game, helps you hit Wokshiz or Graywon faster (preferably the latter if you have to play Graydoll), gives you the soul for Ganowek and Aiida...

Hudibras is okay but I find it bleh. Having to discard doesn't affect me as much since I usually draw every g3 in my deck in one game. If Monarch Alfred comes as a Crossride, then he'll be even better. Puts you straight on 28 for minimal effort.

For anyone else who doesn't know, Gaian's card of the day page confirmed that a unit who relies on the number of banish deleted cards will be revealed next week.

Zwill is confirmed 008. With clan categorization, the Deletor Stride cannot be an RRR. Ark Saver is 002, and the Deletor Stride is the GR. Monarch Alfred won't be here.

This card is terrible until the Deletor Stride. And it's because of Stride.

This card does everything I want it to and everything I don't want it to at the same time.

GB2 is ergh seeing as Deletors don't even want their initial first Stride. Mind you, considering everything this does for its cost, it's a fair trade-off when your entire deck is snowballing out of control. The Deletor Heart requirement was, of course, expected. I'm notably glad it isn't an Especial Counterblast so I'm not forced to play Ender (even though I'll probably end up doing so). The backrow lock here seems really, really random, but I guess they're trying to urge you to triangle lock with Gwill.

Delete End is finally here and I'm not sure how I feel on it. Even if you play Gaian, it's still going to take awhile. Not only that, but it feels... too absolute, I guess? Like, I feel it sucks the fun out of it. Glendios took eons to set up and once it did, it got the win it deserved (until the Stride came and it stopped being deserved). This is just: "k you got 12+ banish deleted cards so I'll just win now". At least make it have to hit a Deleted vanguard or any Deletor hit, or something more aggressive. Not just "HERP DERP GEE GEE". In the manga, Graywon grabbed Tetsu's vanguard, crushing him in hand. This feels like an instantaneous explosion when you reach the win condition, and I'm not a fan of it.

The fact that this is the easiest and cheapest Delete in the game is amazing in itself. Graydoll is close, having a Soulblast cost, but said Soulblast is one card specific. However, this card actually greatly infuriates me for the fact that it calls for the deck to focus on this Stride when possible. I didn't want either deck to be Stride reliant, and my only relief comes from the ideal of still not needing Destiny Dealer. At most, you're only saving the fourth for the potential of ham if the game goes on too long. Otherwise, the initial three are just insane bullying with Triple Drive against a deleted Vanguard without the stupidity of Chaos.

Our eldritch overlord is definitely incredible and entirely worthy of the GR slot. I'll still complain about my personal gripes with it, though.

Ark Saver is going to have to be up to the task on stopping this thing if possible. The set showcases an overall battle between Royals and Deletors - Aichi and Ibuki. Unless Ibuki is actually meant to win in the manga, Aichi will get a countermeasure (hopefully Royal Monarch Alfred promo).

the weirdest part about eigorg has to be the gb2 cost. not because it's unnecessary or anything, but because of what you have to stride to go with it. i get this random impression that even though you want to play graywon and greidoll and all that jazz, they're still trying to maybe push you into playing zwill/gwill, if only because you can then madu spam and have the cards to setup eigorg in the first place while also having stride fodder.

as with most win conditions in a game where consistency is volatile to the game itself, it's trying to play a different game of vanguard than everyone else, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, even if it's obnoxious to keep in mind how many cards you have banish-deleted. the obvious solution to eigorg is to rushdown and g2 game, just as the meta's started to do for a while, so it's not impossible to deal with at all. at least, in theory.

card's obviously good/strong/whatever positive thing you want to say about it, while also not being braindead like loop glendy.

in regards to the awkwardness of the win condition @ cherry: pretty sure that's how every win condition ever shown in card game anime/manga has ever translated over to the game itself. exodia, destiny board, glendios w/ loop...a lot of 'em just involve really awkward stall-y strats or weird conditions, and then they just...well, win. magic has had the same problem before with non-combo win condition cards like felidar sovereign because you just straight up win on upkeep at 40 life and you're like, "uh...if you don't have answers to going to win the game off of skill, gg?"

my question is whether ark saver is intended to be an answer to banish delete, which is a very strange thing to respond to, considering it's keyword-specific and would thus limit it to a metagaming counterpick stride, but as it stands, there's nothing stopping eigorg from fulfilling at least half of its condition without interaction.

>reincarnation dragon
okay first of all cant you just be a holy dragon like everyone else
>holy squire
no thats obviously ark saver

This card is trying to be everything desired and fails at doing so at literally almost every point. The mass unlock is something that has been desired for a long time. The rearguard gains are very much appreciated, but there's a colossal problem with it. Requiring an "Alfred" heart means XIV or King of Knights. For Seekers, this card cannot make a good push without Cerdic or some other booster. Having Blaster Blade Seeker or something else of the like that doesn't get +3000 (or anything for that matter) will have a 7000 booster. This equals 16000 (9 + 7). Herein lies the problem: Ark Saver boosts rearguards for +2 each, that's 4000 a column for rearguards. This equals 20, a completely useless number that is no different from 16 except in some matchups/circumstances (Cecilia, among other 10k hearts).

I'm not even going to begin to note the stupidity of the GB3 being Saint Blow without a Critical (AKA COMPLETELY INFERIOR).

The unlock is enormous and the main reason this would see any play so long as Link Joker continues to thrive through Glendios or see something through the upcoming Messiahs and friends from GBT05. However, the stupidest thing about this is requiring an unflip of the self. If it wasn't necessary to play two of this, it'd be amazing, despite the low boost.

thanks for absolutely nothing bushi
you gave us a random jewel knight and "seekers" in the form of alfred support and theres about 2-3 cards you actually want for xiv

ark saver is subpar because you want to play 4 altomile 2 saint blow or vice versa not 2 altomile 2 blow 2 this and 4 altomile 2 saint blow 2 ark saver sounds like a mess when one of them isnt getting their gb2-3 skill off
