Title: Whats coming up for Season 5?
Post by: Doryan on September 21, 2014, 11:18:44 AM
With the introduction of Stride from Harmonics Messiah which could be the new way to implement Grade 4s.

What do you think will happen in Season 5 mechanic wise?

I can see us going into the direction of Grade 4s either that or this Stride Ability once explained while be the main mechanic for season 5 depending on how things go.

Don't know why this is in the anime section, I was referring to the new group of BTs and what it would include mechanic wise since the Season and BTs intertwine with one another, I wasn't talking about the anime.

I usually refer to a series of BTs released during a season to be the follow: Season 1 Sets, Season 2 Sets, etc.

Well you pretty much said it xD
Stride is probably season 5 mechanics, nobody knows how it works exactly yet but it seems to be vanguard's version of extra deck.

Reffering to your question, probably because we can now only speculate about it since we've no actual information about anything that will be included in S5, so we aren't able to talk about actual BT's as of yet. Or so I assume.

OT:
Stride, as I mentioned before could potentially be criteria-based Superior Ride or, what is immensly fun.sounding to me, Special Trigger Ride (I really hope for the 2nd one, to be perfectly honest). Now to speculate about both.
The first hypothesis is pretty simple. Special condition for each clan. For Kagero, when 2 or more units have been retired by your unit's skill. Royal Paladins, when 2 of your units have been Superior Called, or something simmilar. But that sounds too simple, doesn't it? I believe it does, so I assume there'll be a risk factor with it. More like a pinch-situation than a risk-factor. Basically, a last resort unit. I can't say more about it than that, so feel free to fill my head with ideas.
Secondly, Special Trigger Ride. Oh boy, I can only dream about it. Imagine, having a sole, special trigger in deck, let's call it, the 17th trigger (assumably, your deck size would go up to 51 then). Imagine the next situation: You're fighting your mortal enemy in a life-dependant match. Both of you are at 5 damage. Your opponents hand is 8, yours is 3. It is your turn. You decide to call a Grade 2 left in your hand to be able to attack twice, while having 1 empty column, V column full and a 7k booster behind the newly called G2 (16-"18+"-0). You attack with your Vanguard. He guards for 2 to pass. First Check, Grade 3. Second check, SPECIAL RAINBOW TRIGGER! It's trigger skill activates, you must drop 2 different Grades from your hand to be able to Stride. You drop the Grade 3 and a Grade 1. Bang, Yusei style, a motorbike appears, you ride on it, enter an effin' green circle and dissapear. "Clear Mind" in the background. STRIDE THE VANGUARD! DRAGONIC OVERLORD THE GOD! Special Trigger skill! Dragonic overlord The God +10000! 26k Vanguard attack! Triple Drive! Get wrecked, noob!
...I...kinda overdid it, didn't I.. Welp, you get the message here. I want it. Give me back my motorbike games. I. Want. It. Bushi, make it happen....please? q.q

lol. Good to see im not the only one that actually has high hopes on stride, since most people seems to think it will "ruin the game" or something like that.

Well there is many OTHER things that can ruin the game already so I don't see how Stride will make it ruin the game, I am looking forward to seeing how things go.

Ikr?
Depending on the conditions, and the fact that the only stride unit for now its for all clans, it can give so much more variety to the game.

Ikr no more "boring" legions without anything special added to it. Looking forward to season 5.

There's gonna be a stream at the end of the month about Season 5/Stride.

I'm looking forward to Striding but sort of on the fence about an Extra Deck. It can add more variety or completely destroy it if we go about this the Konami way.

Extra Deck didn't destroy yu-gi-oh, it was a good thing. Overusing it and creating new forms of cards did lol
Unless in season 6 they make another extra deck card type besides stride, and same on season 7 and so on, vanguard wont be destroyed. At Least not in the Konami way.

lol Vanguard and Yugioh can't even be compared at all. For the game to get that broken a lot of stuff would have to be done.

Fair point on the Extra Deck overuse, but that's exactly why I'm worried. Bushi is known to massively overload on new mechanics...

Vanguard's been... pretty bad over the years after the Limit Break era imo. The Break Ride era was the worst... Definitely not Yugioh tier bad but definitely not too good to not be comparable in terms of just... gradually collapsing on itself.

You can't really call it like "Broken" or compare to Yugioh though.

1: It's not like you can just OTK/FTK opponents , etc
2: Things got more harder I guess you can say in terms of, how to deal with the new stuff , etc but that's how it works with games like this.
3: If anything I find Vanguard to be more interesting now since at least Bushiroads making a little effort to make the game interesting still.

Bushiroad's doing better than Yugioh. Wouldn't say Vanguard isn't broken when we look at units like Thing Saver or the massive restand/glory clonefest (even if most of them are Tier 0). OTKs are possible for a number of decks (mainly DPolice), but it most certainly does take much more effort and luck than simply winning the coin flip in Yugioh.

The problem I have with Bushi's new ideas is that they seem to make it a point to make the previous mechanic mostly irrelevant and less major clans tend to fall so far behind they never really get a chance. The Break Ride era didn't do this, but it became a turtle game of "whoever hits 4 damage first wins".

I agree on it being a lot more interesting, because I find the concept of Stride extremely interesting. Delete is a fun thing and stuff like Megacolony stun or Aqua Force's four-five attack turns without Triggers is incredible. It's not as broken as Yugioh, no, but I don't see too much difficulty in comparing their absurd formats and money grubbing busted card design.

Yeah that's what I mean with it getting interesting , etc. Unlike Yugioh where it's just a
"Simple tactic, auto win" with most decks. And making cheap stuff to win duels with Yugioh so that Konami can benefit from people who waste all that money on a few cards.

No no, it's not 4 damage to win now, but I'm saying it was back in Season 3/Break Ride era.

Nothing is on par with the tier of stupid that's Shaddoll and Qliphoth. As long as the Extra Deck for Stride never becomes that stupid, Vanguard will remain superior. And it lasts until the End Phase, which already puts Stride on good, balanced footing.

Stride to me is a double edged sword, it could be either really great or it could suck MAJOR balls, one or the other ~

Hopefully it will be great and give support to all clans, but then again, I'd also like DI support so...

Well as long as we get some more Oracle Think Tank this season. I'll be happy enough.
