IGN: Hope
Character Name: Yukino "Yugure" Espoir (Previously known as "Hikari" and 'Yami".)
Age: 22
Main Clan: Gold Paladin/Shadow Paladin (Royal Paladin secondary)
Avatar Card:
Blaster Blade (Ahmes)
Blaster Dark (Yunos)
Ezel
Alignment: Hero

Personality: The name "Yukino" is put aside in favor of "Yugure" in this stoic woman's eyes. Her persona has developed into that of a war veteran, a form of "I've seen some things". Finding more connection with beings of Cray, feelings toward humanity on Earth are detached. She is not above the ability to be kind and generous, however, she prefers to keep to herself in the face of them. Being more soldier-like, she does everything possible to solve a problem once it arises. Though attempting to not be hasty, she is still reckless and winds up biting off more than she can chew. Along with hasty threats with a sword...

Yugure believes in an overall Vanguard consensus. A complete agreement between the worlds on what Vanguard truly is as a whole for everyone. Sporting the ideology "vanguard is life", she compares an average card game to a sparring match or war. This idealism let her bond with her paladins directly during her time on Cray easily. As also, she reveres them. Ahmes, Yunos, and her best friend: Ezel, who are all also her avatars. They have all bonded greatly together, and she strives to get along with the new factions.

The Meister finds her powers mysterious, but works with them to achieve her goals. Stating that the unnatural is the best choice to handle things. However, one part of her new persona to note is that she knows of a "traitor". This person who betrayed her has made her own personal most wanted list, and Yugure always speaks of them with ungodly venom. She will not speak of who it is, nor what changed her, believing that her change was best suited to deal with emotions.

Biography: [UNKNOWN, TWO YEARS OF LIFE FROM AGES 20 TO 22 NOT FOUND - SINGULARITY POINT CONFIRMED]

"I will tear away at despair with all of our swords. Follow me, to a new future."

Yukino is a tall, lithe figured young woman with long, white hair tied into a off-center ponytail with a tiara-shaped band, along with ice blue eyes to go with her snow-themed appearance. Clad in mostly white, light blue, and red colors, her top is hugged by a pale blue dress that matches with the color of her bolero jacket with a red inside whilst being thigh-length. She wears white heeled boots, an apple shaped necklace, and thin, rectangular earrings. Combined with the tiara, these all reinforce her majestic design, but it is blotched by a crooked, light red scar down her left eye.

IGN: Hope
Character Name: Yukino "Yugure" Espoir (Previously known as "Hikari" and 'Yami".)
Main Clan: Royal Paladin
Avatar Card: Blaster Blade/Blaster Dark/Majesty Lord Blaster/Exculpate the Blaster
Alignment: Hero

Personality: A woman of elegance and arrogance who can be surprisingly hotheaded, despite her royal-like status. She seems to treat her friends more like subjects than human beings of the same social class. Yukino states that she is "The Chosen Sword" and believes to be so from the fact that she, unlike other cardfighters, can not only hear the voices of her comrades, but communicate with them as well. The snow girl has been seen yelling at her "allies" and barking orders on more than one occasion. Even so, she still asserts that she isn't lying. Teamwork or even just acting like a team player is difficult for her due to her ego, yet can seem to work with her deck with very little trouble save her "arguing" with them.

Vanguard is nothing more than a mere stepping stone, she says. Being "The Chosen", she is destined for greatness far beyond cards. That is why she believes "Blaster Blade" is her Avatar, as the Ace of Light's legend matches her given prophecy. There is an admirable amount of faith in this dream of hers, as not even her entire family could tell her it's just a story. Though, she will not deny that Vanguard is a "fun pass-time". Her feelings have to be stronger than she says, as upon a loss, she becomes very passive aggressive, stating that what the opponent got was only a "taste" of her uprising legendary prowess or something silly.

Given the nickname "Hikari", one would say she's more of a chosen light. However, Yukino very much hates that name. In response to being called such, Yuki will violently and comically beat up the person who said it. Unless it's her younger sister, of course, whom Yuki reinforces wholeheartedly. If Yukino is "The Ace", then Hana is the "Angel" who bestowed light and greatness upon her.

Biography: Long ago, a domain much similar to Earth itself was discovered amidst the far outreaches of the cosmos. Planet “Cray”, a world filled with Knights, Dragons, Demons, and visiting space mechas. Within the holy nation “Grand Sanctuary”, legions of royal knights and ferocious dragons resided and judged over the sacred lands. Defending the world from alien invasions, settling civil wars brewing in other nations, and the like. They were the safeguards of Cray. Along with them, there existed a select amount of humans, one bearing the ancestral mark in history that transcended space for the “Espoir” bloodline. A woman, a swordsman of light, others in the squad that consisted of a time-manipulating sage, a gigantic knight mounted on a noble steed named “Gablade”, and a massive God Dragon that acted as overseer. At the time, this militia squad was the strongest on the planet, unrivaled by any enemy of antagonistic nations, they were simply the pride of the Sanctuary.

That is, until one last civil war that they would all participate together in broke out. One within their own nation of furious red flame dragons coming to diplomatic and moral disagreements with King Ezer. War broke out instantly after the death of a major figurehead of the Royal Paladin, and then was fueled even more so when a legendary general of Kagero was brutally executed. The harsh genocides razed the land, with the woman and her brotherly figure “Ahmes” doing their best to calm the storms. That is when the two had a vision of sorts.

On the distant planet “Earth”, there were cards. Cardfight Vanguard, a game utilizing the figures of Cray on paper. What they saw was this very bloodbath being simulated in the form of a simple game. The woman found this insulting, but Ahmes understood something very quickly: a margin of their wars are determined by these “Vanguards” in another world.

… The civil war resulted in the split of the Grand Sanctuary, becoming United Sanctuary and Dragon Empire.

To the “Espoir” family on Earth, the shining swordsman delivered a message:

“You will be aids – nay, salvations for our world. When the newborn of the shapeshifting pupil arrives, their destiny will be intertwined with Cray's. Their destiny will be intertwined with mine.”

That child was Yukino, a baby born with pupils that occasionally morphed into that of swords. She was promptly nicknamed “Hikari”, being the light to guide fate.

“Spoiled rotten” doesn't even begin to describe how they treated destiny's child. The Espoir believed in their ancestral heritage from Cray, knowing that Vanguard was more than just a game modeled after its lore. Their baby girl was raised with the utmost priority, giving her all the attention and teachings they could when they weren't focusing on their other daughter. Barely knowing any better, she assumed the entire world was made to serve her whim. The only human being who escaped her arrogance was her baby sister, whom she was quickly enamored with. Superiority combined with the thoughts of what was expected from a big sister only inflated her ego thrice as much.

Yukino had Vanguard forced onto her at a young age, and “hate” didn’t describe her intense dislike of the game. It was incredibly confusing, cards didn’t favor her, and she kept hearing voices yell at her. Distressed over finding something she wasn’t good at for once, she started yelling back at the voices. … And they responded, then she responded, and the shouts turned into calm, happy greetings. Her connection to Cray was more than her family initially thought, the girl was very much communicating with her Royal Paladin units. It looked more like she was just talking to herself in the view of the average joe. However, the more talking Hikari did, the better at the game she got. This brought a surprising amount of joy to the little lass’ heart, to the point where she shoved the game on her sister Hana for her to share in the fun.

Eventually, “Blaster Blade” appeared before her in the form of a card… and then a second copy also appeared, confusingly enough. The voice of the swordsman stated that one is her, and the other is himself. Out of everyone, Hikari found it easiest to speak with The Ace more than even the King of Knights. He was like a brother, even, offering advice on life, and deflating her ego a significant amount. It was still there and about twice the size of most egotistical political and business figures, but it was deflated somehow and somewhat nonetheless.

Finally learning of her vague “Destiny” from her parents and Blaster Blade, she accepted that it was her job to live up to expectations, and lead the Sanctuary alongside the other Paladins. Unfortunately, with her slightly above average skill, that prophecy was not to be fulfilled any time soon. Despite how she treats Vanguard as a tool, however, she is more than into growing better at it. Perhaps she really enjoyed this game over the thought of being destined to be a hero after all.

"This is only the first step to my grand design of being the hero."

IGN: Hope
Character Name: Yukino "Yugure" Espoir (Previously known as "Hikari" and 'Yami".)
Age: 20
Main Clan: Gold Paladin
Avatar Card: Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel
Alignment: Hero

Personality: After the events of the civil war, Yukino has deflated her queen by a large margin. Still believing she is a queen, however, arrogance is unfortunately an expectation from her. This time around, the value of "friends" has been understood and is cherished. It is a firm belief based on how having real comrades uplift the heart from despair, and the woman will preach as much. Princess Hana is a massive priority for her, to the point of an obsession almost. Prune to violence, she'll likely snap the necks of those who offend her little sister. A sort of guilty pleasure that came with being an older sibling.

Vanguard is not a tool to justify one's ends - it is a game in which bonds are created through the sport of having fun and understanding each other. No longer believing that Vanguard is a weapon, Yukino enjoys it to its fullest. There is still a hint of fear of failure, the same phobia that caused her to fall into darkness. She does her best to move on from it, but it's still there. In addition to this connection with the game, the queen holds the Paladins of Cray in extremely high regard. Especially Ahmes and Yunos, the real names of her Avatars.

Yukino's adjustment to Gold Paladin was difficult emotionally, still unused to Ezel and Garmore's bickering. Despite that, she'll continue to press on against the odds in hopes to save her clans, while preserving the lives of her current. "Yugure", the name of Twilight, is proof that she lords over Light and Shadow - praising Royal and Shadow for finally allying themselves together. The woman would not hesitate to say she loves Ahmes and Yunos, along with her many other companions that spurred her on.

Biography: In the events of two months prior to today, Yukino failed to enter Nationals, and had fallen into a short depression due to believing she was a failure as the Chosen Sword. Because of this shortcoming, she met Haruka and Satoshi, her two best friends who also didn't make it. Despite bonding with them, the queen still fell into darkness after losing to Jellal a second time. Meeting Yunos - who shared the same dream as her. After Hana came to help her sister with her phobia, Yukino came back to her senses. Ahmes and Yunos accepted each other, and their swords fused with her becoming "Yugure" - the Chosen Sword of Twilight. A final challenge to Jellal was issued, but she lost the fight. However, on Cray, Exculpate the Blaster - her new identity - won the war by turning Shadow Paladin against Phantom Blaster Overlord. This was the end of the civil war and Jellal's hideous methods of achieving his goal. The queen promised to help him fulfill his duty while keeping their happiness intact.

However, the overseer of time-space had different plans for her. A nightmare of sorts - Yukino found herself within the white-grey space of the rift. A booming voice declared that: like the rest of the knights, Exculpate the Blaster shall be erased. Due to Yugure's full synchronization with the Avatar of Twin Blades and his transcendence, this was effectively herself. The void demanded she vanish, and began pulling her away into the depths of nothingness. Just when all hope was going to be lost, an enormous brute appeared, roaring like a lion. It... was Father Espoir, and he delivered a heavy punch to the time-space overseer that had been invisible, dealing severe damage to its being, and making it escape.

Though saved, Yugure had a mountain of inquiries.

"What's going on father? Where did my Royal Paladins go? Why did the rift try to take me?!"

A sigh, he turned to his daughter. "Cray's screwed as it stands. The rift didn't stop just because the Dragon of Hell was dead. All that happened went with the big bad's plan. All prominent figures on Cray that posed a threat would be taken away and were. Royal and Shadow, Kagero, and Bermuda Triangle still. They're gone, locked away. Since you were the legendary figure of twin swords, you'd have been taken away too."

Naturally, disbelief was the only thing Yukino felt in response. Everyone fought to prevent themselves from disappearing only to do so anyway?! Her shock was expected, so Father placed a hand on her head. Somehow, he had dragged her mind into a flashback. The queen stood as Exculpate - her Cray-bound form - atop a large rock. Legions upon legions of Royal and Shadow Paladin had all gathered in the storm-ridden wasteland. This... was a memory. After Exculpate's speech, the paladins all swore loyalty to her. Cray was prepared to deal with the threat altogether, to protect their home. Even Ahmes and Yunos were there, along with multiple new faces. Some even with new, golden armor. Right... this was Gold Paladin, an extra faction made as a sort of precaution. It was also a clan of alliance, made up of Royal and Shadow paladin, along with uprising knights. There was even one named Vortimer that she remembered.

Only then did the real nightmare start.

A scream echoed throughout, and everyone looked off into the distance. Dragonic Overlord - the spearhead of Kagero was drifting off into the sky concealed in a bubble. The "looming storm" came in the form of a colossal cyber dragon of a horrifying design. Black Rings attached to its back, the monstrosity summoned a sort of orb. It was almost mistake for a black hole, but when the beast fired, Yugure suddenly understood everything.

It was a trap.

When the ball of energy hit the ground, several knights floated away in a bubble. Mass panic broke out within the Sanctuary, with higher ups ordering everyone to evacuate into the castle. Exculpate was frozen in horror as the gravity devil approached. More orbs crashed into the ground, taking more and more with them into the sky. It set its sights on Yugure, and she felt a deathly amount of terror. Aiming to capture her, it launched another bubble at the ringleader of Paladins. Much to her shock, Ahmes and Yunos leapt up to protect their friend. They cried out in agony, and she called out their names - screaming. The two looked back, giving wry smiles, happy she was alright. That was the last they saw - as they too were locked.

Yukino in the rift screamed, begging for it to stop. Dad Espoir removed his hand, ceasing the show of memory lane. Wasting no time, he explained that the War of Liberation has begun, and she has to save the sealed heroes. Placing a card in her hand, he commanded her to use the power of "the Meister". This awakened her trance state from months back, beginning to replicate the armor of the card. The man introduced it as Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel. That unit and Garmore with his new armor will assist her in her goal. These Gold Paladins of hers were key to fixing the disaster brought upon by the rift. Yugure questioned how much does he really know, and what is the power of the Meister?

He said ask Ahmes and Yunos. A vague answer, but one nonetheless. Gripping her head again, he bestowed some kind of power to her, changing her eyes to a red-orange color with the same yellow sword pupils. Stating that this was her emergency promotion as the Sanctuary's leader - its queen. He exited her dream, and she awoke in a cold sweat. ... But it was real, Ezel and Garmore were on her desk. Those snowy blue eyes had transformed into reflects of the sunset. ... Yukino simply prepared herself for the upcoming days, adjusting her wardrobe and hairstyle appropriately.

"If we are going forth over thousands of nights,
it is only for friend and tomorrow."
