While CFA typically updates a few days to a week after a new set is launched, BFA can go months and months without an update. I understand that coding is hard, but this is such a big issue that there are people who do the work for you for free.

To answer your question,I do believe that there is a reason to why they take so long. Cardfight Vanguard is much more easier to update considering alot of the times the sets are released, within 5-6 weeks intervals. Buddyfight on the other hand majority of their sets are leaked before the set even comes out, and alot of the card images are either super blurry or super un-appealing.with these leaks people think that the set is released, when in reality they have like another month until official release which is when we get better arts. (all though this current update had alot of the blurry images because they didn't want people to wait another month or two for official arts) . I do try my best to update at least two weeks after the set is released, and if their is a delay in updates, its mainly because life issues or quality of life add on's to the server. Some time computer problems happen, Sometimes school sucks, sometime family issues occur. Just life happens and theirs nothing we can do about that *shrugs*.
