Title: [BATTLES] Star Battles & Point Systems
Post by: Kisaragi Zane on May 20, 2017, 08:24:54 PM
Kicking this thread off I'm going to start off with the Star Battle Essentials

All Star Battles must be played under these conditions:

The Point System!

The new and improved point system has been made refined in a more simplistic level. So this shouldn't take too long for me to explain. You gain +50 per each win from yourself and/or your teammate. At the end of the Star Battle, teams will leave with how many points they've accumulated from the Star Battle regardless of the winner or loser and those points will be added to their Team Score. The highest amount you will obtain from winning a Star Battle is 150 from a 3-X. Again, the idea or foundation is to reward and promote: winning and effort (especially if effort was still made but lost) without punishing teams by limiting their maximum point amount for losing. Unlike before, however, this is a possibility of getting 0 points (provided you aren't able to win a single cardfight within the Star Battle), which is something I originally wanted to avoid but this result is also a reflection on the effort that put into in the fight.

Original Point System
Each team enters a Star Battle with 100 Battle Points (the term used for how much points they can get for the Star Battle.) For each member loss, you lose 25 Battle Points, and each win is a increase of 25 Battle Points. When the Star Battle is finished, the amount of Battle Points you walk away with is added to your Team Points.

The idea foundation behind this is that: The more wins per member, the more points you gain. However, the lowest amount of points a team can obtain 25 Battle Points at the end of the Star Battle, while the highest a team can get is an increase 75 Battle Points, in other words, it’s impossible to not gain or to even lose points from a regular Star Battle. I’ve played this out per each format (Normal, Gunslingers, Roundout) and it seems to be a solid system. One thing I have noticed is that, even if a player counter-sweeps 3-0 while two members have fallen, the winning team only profits by an increase of 25 Battle Points, which enforces the nature of the event: to work alongside your team. For those who are still confused on this, a diagram below should clear things up: although do note, this is in “Roundout” Format. (And also there is no additional points factored in from daily events, achievements etc etc)

Star Battle Point Calculation Diagram (Roundout)

You can Star Battle in any format, but each format will award you points the more members play and especially the more wins you and your teammates get from the Star Battle. (As a side note, Normal Format is the lowest amount of points you can win from a sweep because it’s best 2/3, so if you win 2-0, you only get +50 of total points.)

Again, I'd like to point out that

The Midnight Showdown!

Sorry for the long wait, to finally put this system into effect: Welcome to the second form of Star Battles called Midnight Showdowns!

What you’re able to do in the Midnight Showdown is the same exact Star Battle set up, except to earn points: you must bet your very own team points by wagering them against the opposing team for an equal amount, winner takes all. To start a Midnight Showdown, you simply have to request it like any regular Star Battle and both teams, regardless who challenged who, must both agree to an equal amount of points to wager.

Rules of Midnight Showdown

Why was Midnight Showdowns delayed?
So for anyone who cares to know why: Midnight Showdowns were originally supposed to be accessible at the very start of the event,
however it was originally paired with the Time System. For those who do not know what the Time System was, it was sort of time limit for how many Star Battles you can do and/or how much points you can obtain from other means such as Daily/Weekly Events since originally Star Battles were unlimited. However, because Star Battles were limited to 5 per week, the Time System no longer saw any meaning since teams could Star Battle on their own schedule throughout the week, meaning the alternative battling also had to be either removed or limited especially since a lot of it's functions relied on the "Time System". Though the idea of betting and risking your own points in an attempt to earn greater points overall was a pleasant idea to keep in the event. So here it is now for everyone to play, fully reworked. I maaay add another rule but I'll let announce it to everyone before it gets added.
