Title: Team battling in BFA.
Post by: Darkness Aeon on November 26, 2017, 02:34:12 AM
Hello, this post is to spread the love and joy of team battles. I implore you to give it a shot in your community. Make teams, and fight others for honor and glory.

Now, I do not expect a lot of people to read this. Like, at all. It has been a long time since anyone has posted in the BF section, and that goes to show how disconnected the community is.

Now, lets talk pros and cons here. Be honest with ourselves and what not.

Pros.
They are fun.
Help you hone your skills.
Give you a bit of a more competitive outlet while remaining mostly casual.
Help build the community.
Connect the community.
Help you meet new people.
Expands your cardgame experience.
Just to name a few...

Now, the cons.
Some people have egos, big egos. This can lead to drama or toxic behavior.
Without teams, there are no team fights. This is why it is important to have a big variety of teams.
Some people can be controlling. Make sure you are in a team that lets you be you. No one can force you to play their way.
Losing TBs can be discouraging at times, but the wins make up for them.

Now, we discussed the pros and cons. What can you do? Well, you can make a team of course! Got a few friends you play with and you guys are looking for something new? Try team battles!

If you want variety of teams, I heavily implore that you eliminate multi/double teaming from the get go to experience a better competitive outlet. I'm not gonna make this into a "double teaming should be banned" as there are multiple reasons both pros and cons as to why people do it, but the FCB Community is extremely small; and while I do support the idea of wanting to expand it: multi/double teaming can be detrimental to this process.

Additionally limiting teams to 3-5 people: while this is up to the preference; the ideas and core values of the team, I think a reasonably competitive team only needs a solid 3-5 people since it'll lessen the chance of multi/double teaming and increase team variety.

Some other ideas to get people interested in to buddyfight team battling (or even buddyfight in general):

Also, personally I've found it to be best to ignore egos and just play for the fun of the game since you don't play for your opponent, you play for the game/for the team, which is something I instill or at least try to instill in teams. Don't hold grudges and don't let outside issues interfere with the game. This is true regardless of competitive (but in competitive there's more of this cranked to an eleven so it becomes a norm) and especially casual. If something happens, quickly resolve and start fresh tomorrow when you face them again.

But that's just my two cents on this. I would like to see Buddyfight community to have a larger roster in community but it does take a bit more initiative to get such an expansion. Luckily you have freedom to try new things to have the community be more engaging.

Some other ideas to get people interested in to buddyfight team battling (or even buddyfight in general):
  • Make a YouTube channel: Record matches and games of the team battles and upload them, regardless of commentary. It gives something for people to look at and seeing how it works before jumping into it.
  • More tournaments: Extremely helpful because most people on the CF community use TBs as a means to practice for tournaments which are far more accurately competitive, in my opinion.
  • Promote: Same idea as Youtube channel, go to facebook groups and advertise to let others know "hey we do team play if you're interested" or "hey we have a community that's able to comprehend and aren't just a bunch of randoms", you're bond to catch attention of those who are looking for a more engaging and competitive scenery.

Agreed.

Team Battling in BFA has always been an option that everyone has had, and something that is greatly encouraged in the community!
I have given all the resources needed to the BFA community (The newly made community discord chat "Join Server" above) so you all can have a hangout spot there whenever you stop by, or hangout for tournaments that i will be hosting sometime starting this coming Spring, Winter and Summer. So you have the resources all that is needed is Buddyfighters!

I encourage everyone to venture into other Buddyfight groups via Discord or other social media to meet and connect with other Buddyfighters out there, or even create your own Buddyfight hangout spot, whichever works for you to feel and or get more involved!

On my end, I have been creating many sleeves so they could possibly be added to the BFA server in the future. It will give more incentive for people to play in tournaments so they have something they can play for. I to am attempting to see if more sprites can be added in the future as well, and possibly a new map maybe. I am to also making sure there is an update either the week the set comes out, or the week after the set come out so we never go 6 months again without an official update ever again. So i to am working on making the community more competitive and keeping it fresh as i possibly can!

Advice for Teams starting out:
Teams should have a team member limit set. You get a better feel and connection with your team members that way!
Find a group of people that accepts you for YOU!
With Every Loss comes knowledge, you learn more from losing than you do from winning so do not take it to heart!
Build good bonds with everyone in the community, learn from others and be open to meeting newer people.
Mono/Double/Muti teaming rules should all be establish with everyone on your team and made clear prior to joining and or creating the team!
HAVE FUN!!! This is a GAME after all!

Here is a link that goes into further details, these also apply to Buddyfight: http://cardfight-wiki.ru/areafor/index.php/topic,3191.0.html
You are free to use the official discord server above click "Join Server". There you are also free to ask for team battles, and form teams. This also where i will be hosting tournaments.

To all the new and old Teams alike Good Luck in Your Endeavors~
