Suppose my opponent attacks me with Machining Warsickle.
Machining Warsickle
[AUTO](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter Blast (2)] At the end of the battle that this unit attacked a vanguard, if the attack did not hit during that battle, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose one of your opponent's vanguard, and that unit cannot [Stand] during your opponent's next stand phase.
[AUTO]:[Counter Blast (1)-card with "Machining" in its card name] When this unit is placed on (VC), you may pay the cost. If you do, choose one card with "Machining" in its card name from your soul, and call it to (RC) as [Rest].
I guard the attack and he uses his Counter Blast to Paralyze my Vanguard.
If my Vanguard is a G3 Legion unit, who hasn't performed legion yet. In my turn if I perform legion, will my VG stand or will it stay rested?

no, it cannot stand. If one of the vanguard will not be able to stand, the other will also not be able to stand. if u legioned it'd still be at rest. (sadly lol )

10.1.24.1.「双闘する」とは、「【】：によって表記される能力を持つ双闘状態でないヴァンガードの左に、※で指定されているカードをそのヴァンガードと同じ配置状態で置き、それらを双闘状態にすることを指す特定行動です。
It is stated that legion-ing doesn't change the state of the vanguard.
If it is at stand, it remains as stand.
If it is at rest, it remains as rested.
The mate is summoned and attached to the vg with the same state the vg holds.
10.1.24.12.レギオンメイトかレギオンリーダーが配置状態の変更を禁止された場合、そのユニットと関連付けられているレギオンリーダーかレギオンメイトの配置状態の変更も禁止されます。
Specifically it is stated as "if the legion leader or the mate is prohibited to change any arrangement (in this case, the vg cannot stand during stand phase), the legion mate will be prohibited as well.

This is the ruling why cat butler works :P
If the legion leader or the mate were to stand, the legion leader will stand if the mate stands and vice versa.
