Usually it depends on the deck I'm using and the cards in my hand that determine my course of action.
For example... regardless of the clan I have (unless I'm facing a retire or Link Joker deck), if I have a hand filled with grade 1 and grade 2 units, I will rush the living hell out of the opponent because I have the resources for it + higher chance of getting triggers in both damage/drive checks for protection or offense.
Another example... would be if I have a Gold Paladin or Royal Paladin deck-- of course I'm fine with laying my hand down a bit because of the clan's typical superior call skills. I'll have enough units to conserve hand for defensive maneuvers, while still lashing out with consistent damage.
Lastly.. in a scenario where I'm using Nova Grappler or OTT, I've seen people conserve their hand until they can begin Striding. This is an okay tactic as well, because of how powerful these two clans are in consistency once they reach the Striding stage of the game.

Usually when I play Aqua Force, because they're so combo-reliant, I need to e conservative about my hand as to not throw away a card that's important to said combo.
