With the amount of facelifting that the stuff from FC15 and BT03 has done to Dark Irregulars and Amon in particular, the deck feels completely different. Originally the deck suffered a lot from poor hand advantage in comparison to what the opponent had and just not being able to survive long enough to power play efficiently. It also didn't help that their bosses had ridiculous requirements for their skills to come online, making it so that by the time you could get their skills active you were already dead. Thankfully, the support that Bushi gave to this deck has turned it into something that is actually quite real and terrifying.
Hand advantage is no longer a problem. Strides automatically make it so that you can gain more advantage just from Triple Drive. It also helps that your first two initial strides, Madu and Lila, generate hand advantage on top of their Triple Drive / 26k swing. This alread helps the deck, since one of the only reasons it was truly playable before was because of how fragile its hands were. The soul condition is also not much of a problem now with the addition of Hell's Nail and Barmaid Grace. It's very possible to hit 10-20 soul as early as turn 3 with most standard hands now, not that you'd always want to but the option is definitely there.
Gilles de Rais also gives something back to the deck that has always been a problem, which is their weakness to Sentinels. The deck always had huge power and scary bosses that got thwarted by your opponent guarding with 1 card, which really deterred people away from giving it a try. Thanks to Gilles de Rais, however, your opponent's Sentinel is no longer a problem and it's on a very easy to meet condition.
Marchocias also helps the deck a lot by making it less dependant upon Doreen in order to deal the final points of damage. He will most likely be on 20 Soul by the time that you start striding him, making it so that he's +12ing your front row to really drive the last damage in and win the game. Sure it isn't exactly a Conquest Dragon, but it's enough to kill people when they're not expecting it by forcing their entire hand onto the board.
Of course 1 inherent flaw does still exist, which is their ability to deckout. There is absolutely nothing that can be done about this and honestly it's something that I really like about this deck in particular. You have to play with the mentality that you are also playing against yourself by being so greedy with your skills, but being greedy in some cases is incredibly rewarding. The best case example of this is Marchocias, since you need to contemplate how much soul you're willing to go to before you stop so you can really stack those +3 skills up.
Main things that are concerning me right now are the following:
-
Kisskill over 2nd Madu:
The fact that Kisskill thins you for another 3 cards may be too much thinning in the deck, while Madu doesn't thin you for any while still giving you the same kind of advantage if not a better advantage due to it being something you can guaranteed stride with the next turn.
Thoughts/Opinions are welcome.
