I'm not really too keen on the sounds. If they're overcompressed to reduce the laginess, they'll sound like garbage. Conversely, if they're good quality, the game will be super large. While this wouldn't hurt the update patches (after the initial one), it would add a lot of extra weight on the full download.
I'm positive that sounds would not take up much space at all, it's literally at most 3 seconds long if you include the fade-out. You don't need to "compress" the sound at all, it doesn't seem like you guys know much about the technical aspects of these things.In any case, there would be a mute button to disable sounds if you found them annoying - I really don't see a disadvantage in adding just Ride/Call sounds, if playing a 3 second sound file makes your computer lag, it's a great indicator that you need to buy a new one.

I was talking about ride chants, which have many other issues tagged along with them.
Sounds i think would make it lag but if you decide to put in sounds for sound lovers you can always put a mute sound button

The sounds would probably sound lagged but not actually effect the lag directly.
