Title: The Great Trinity [Kagero]
Post by: Lequier on September 12, 2014, 02:51:42 AM
1 Red Pulse Dracokid
3 Demonic Dragon Mage, Rakshasa
3 Demonic Dragon Mage, Abarara
3 Gatling Claw Dragon
3 Seal Dragon, Artpique
4 Perdition Dancer, Agafia

4 Nouvelleroman Dragon
4 Perdition Dragon, Rampart Dragon
3 Dragon Monk, Gojo
3 Seal Dragon Spirit, Malkibel

4 Perdition Dragon, Dragonic Neoflame
3 Bellicosity Dragon
3 Dragonic Burnout

4 Perdition Imperial Dragon, Dragonic Overlord the Great Emperor
2 Dauntless Drive Dragon

3 Transcendence Dragon, Dragonic Nouvelle Vague

This deck takes a lot of inspiration from the Crimson Trinity deck that did something every now and again in the JCG. The most obvious difference from that decklist is the inclusion of The Great instead of Vortex Dragonewt, but overall The Great adds a lot more to the Deck than Vortex Dragonewt does.

6/6 is being run in order to provide sustain for the deck and draws are just the best thing ever when used in conjunction with The Great. It helps that the 2 draw triggers that are available for being run in this deck are both incredibly good against different decks and really help by being non-vanillas. Grade 1s are pretty self explanatory. Gojo is there to set up Legion and filter through to good cards (especially good with Draws again), Nouvelleroman being there to secure that you get either Dauntless or The Great depending upon whichever one you're missing and Malkibel there to make sure that you can get off Dauntless without any problems.

The differences start showing from the Vortex Dragonewt build when you start looking at the Grade 2 line-up. Obviously you need to play Neoflame due to him being Dragonic Overlord the Great's mate, but he works incredibly well in conjunction with him with his ability to retire a large amount of the board for an additional CB1. Bellicosity was a choice used in the Crimson Trinity version, just because it's a really good ride when you're planning on using the Shizuku and unflipping the damage for an additional restand is legitimately scary. Dragonic Burnout is one of the main reasons to play this deck other than for The Great himself in my opinion, as he is basically just a near enough completely free Berserk Dragon. That's pretty sick considering how you can combo Burnout with Neoflame in order to destroy entire columns with just CB1 SB1.

Dragonic Overlord the Great is self-explanatory as to why he is good due to being a retire restander. Dauntless is incredibly good in conjunction with The Great as it allows you to pull of the Rebirth + DO Breakride turn without having to lock your entire field and with the possibility of retiring a lot of your opponent's Rearguards. Since The Great triggers off a Rearguard attack, it means you can attack the Vanguard with Dauntless, then attack the Rearguard with The Great and then go back to the Vanguard again to really push your opponent's advantage to the limit. Finally there's Nouvelle Vague, who has a laughable condition when used in conjunction with something like Dragonic Overlord. Because of how light the deck is on CBs and with the amount of Soul you build up through breakriding and legioning, Nouvelle should get their nuke off near enough every game. Especially important when you've already had Dragonic Overlord devouring their Rearguards for half of the match anyway.

Thoughts/Comments would be appreciated.

The deck itself, looks good. Makes me wonder why you don't run Nouvelle Critic Dragon in your g2 line up and those Mareiko's for grade 1's to unflip if you have a Perdition vg (DOTG) since with those draws/gatling draw you'd have enough soul anyway for Nouvelle's LB

Nouvelle Critic is just an option that I decided not to play after testing, but I wouldn't be surprised if other people played it. Dragonic Burnout does enough retiring for the deck and he doesn't cost anything important, while Critic does technically have a cost. Also having Nouvelle in hand is a lot more situational than having an Overlord in the bin.

Mareiko isn't all that amazing though. He has the phrase "During your Main Phase" which means he's completely incompatible with Overlord and Neoflame. When I tried him out he ended up doing nothing more than anything, which is why I'm not playing a single copy of him in this. Doesn't do enough to warrant being played, basically.

TBH I think Nouvelle legion works best with Dragonnewt, but that's just me.  I'm not saying that this doesn't work, it definitely works, I just think its more worth it using DO breakride instead of Dauntless.  This is all I have to say.
