Title: Tournament rules.
Post by: Doctor Who on December 01, 2014, 05:53:15 AM
So, hello. I think it is best to post it here since it will involve a lot of new rules.
1. Calculating your time zone correctly.
This and nothing more. Subscribing to a tournament that takes place at 5 a.m in the morning in your time zone because u didn't know how to calculate correctly is a pain in the ass. I know how to calculate it, but if I explain it, then you won't understand nothing. Better to be some1 else.
2. Number of active tournaments.
The tournaments are popping up like mosquitos during the summer period. So therefore, I would say to have either a limit of on-going and/or future tournaments and make a moderator that will follow up. Another option is that the persons who are organizing tournaments often are to form some sort of board that will keep the placed organized.
3. No show-up.
Please, this should be at least one strike and banned for participation for a certain amount of time. I signed up once or twice and the tournament got cancelled due to no massive show-up. In this case every participant that didn't show up will be punished. I know how it feels when you go to a lot of trouble to organize a tournament and to have no show-up.

I understand the frustration of no shows (I keep missing the tournaments I sign up for...), but why would we start banning people from participating? How does that help them learn to show up if they no longer get the choice?

Active tournament number isn't a problem as much as people hosting tournaments that last far too long, and don't have the motivation or care to continue monitoring and managing them. I would turn this second one into telling people to manage their tournaments until the end or one of the moderators can immediately end the tournament due to host inactivity.

*sigh*
Mods missing tournaments. That means this won't be implemented very soon.

What is that supposed to mean?

I'm only stating my opinion on it. That doesn't mean it won't happen.

if you want my opinion, you should forbid all users to host it, and make a group of individuals, that prooven in past, that they can host tour and end it properly, deciding the winner and the second/third/forth places. Not just leaving cause people is afking. Of course to proove, that you're capable of hosting tournament, you should get at least one chance to show it. But those dead tournaments are all in the respective board.
So it simple - all users have at least one try to host a tournament - they need moderators permission to do it. Global mod or Boards mod is fine, others do other things, so dont bother them.  When user gets a permissin, he is hosting a tour. Based on his behaviour and the tournament's result moderators will decide, either this user should be forbidden from hostin the tournament, or can host them in the future. Of course they have the right to forbid user from hosting tour without that test - for example, if that user is in terminater/banned list. Or was there. With that kind of organization your tournaments should go just fine and with time there will be very low number of tournaments, that ended too early.
