Personality:
Brimming with confidence, Neu finds Vanguard to be a game which she can use to connect to people as well as read their ambitions. She finds the enjoyment of a game to be first and foremost, and adjust her skill level to match those whomever she plays. Through proficiency with many decks, she is able to choose one which would be the best and most fair match up against an opponent. She fights with honor and sees the game as something that should be enjoyable to everyone and anyone. She likes to make friends, especially with Vanguard fighters, but at the same time, she is able to keep many things hidden.
Beyond her friendly attitude comes someone who is a master tactician. Having been a prodigy, she is able to plan her moves carefully, causing her to be a dangerous opponent in and out of the Vanguard fight world. Having lived and grown up in a place full of diversity, she is able to understand many and use this to her advantage. She can remain calm and is not very quick to anger. The word "manipulation" is not used when describing how she brings others to her side because she doesn't need to try. People do what she wishes them to do through her pure and natural actions.
Character Bio:
She was through a German ancestry that had immigrated to America, Neu had a rough childhood due to having to have gone through the process of assimilation. Having only spoken German as well as having an accent, she had a difficult time blending in with her classmates at school. As a result, she was forced to forget her heritage completely.
During elementary school she was introduced to Vanguard. Through the game, she was able to make friends. Vanguard for her eliminated the boundaries and differences between many because it didn't matter who it was, anyone could become a powerful Vanguard fighter. It didn't matter who it was either, but she always had a good time playing with everyone whom she faced. Eventually, once she reached middle school, she had made it to high division of fighters, eventually being invited to the national tournaments in America.
It was just a national tournament to her, it was life or death. Due to the difficult circumstances that her family faced while living in America, she was forced to fight in a way in which she would win so that she could pull her family out of their hardships. The fun Vanguard no longer mattered, it simply only ever was then about victory and the prize of achieving it. She wanted to leave and wanted to quit. She failed over and over, but even so, there was no way out for her.
These experiences caused her turmoil as for the first time, she felt frustration while playing the game she loved. Other scoffed at her, looking down on her and calling her a weakling for only making it so far. She built herself to become determined, to become for powerful and become more able to defeat those who looked upon her with their pitiful gazes. And so she did.
Once again entering the Nation Tournament during high school, she was able to breeze through easily, to the surprise of many. Despite winning so easily, and even reaching her goal, she realized something.
"This wasn't fun.... not at all."
Until this point, all she had been doing was practicing Vanguard endlessly, playing it in order to win and fulfill her wish to get revenge on others. This wasn't the Vanguard that she loved, not by a long shot. For her, the game tore down the cultural and social barriers which existed, but made its own through the classification of the weak and the strong.
"To hold down the most powerful, for the sake of everyone having fun," that's what she saw as right. "It's the strong and the unjust whom make the systems which subjugate the weak and keep them from enjoying themselves."She wanted to take the world of Vanguard and even the Planet Cray and create peace on it with her own hands through destroying the strong, empowering the weak, and acting as the grand judge, keeping things in the balance.
"I'll make whatever sacrifice necessary, I'll show everyone a Vanguard that will accept everyone with open arms!"
With this, she sets her sights on Japan, having heard news of a mysterious disturbance there, perhaps the power that she needed in order to create the peace that she so wished for.
Upon her arrival in Japan, she was able to discover the mysterious force, the Rift. It was like a child which needed to be nurtured and given food. Though, in return, the rift was able to grant powers and wishes. In order to seal the great clans which then led to The War of Liberation, Neu took control of rift's space and used its image shifting powers to manipulate Jellal Kisaragi to fight off the other clans in order to seal them away and resurrect Aqua Force.
Upon his failure and betrayal in which he ended up joining forces with Yukino Espoir, she decided to take things upon herself. It was in this event that she used her true clan, Link Joker, to defeat and seal away the clans of Yukino Espoir, Haruka Nakahara, and Jellal Kisaragi. Due to the large amount of power that it took to do so, her Link Joker clan was sealed away temporarily. She created pacts and fought using the sealed clans in order to restore the power of her main deck.
Upon its restoration, she realized that in order to make a world where everyone could be happy, she must take it upon herself to go beyond the contractions of reality. With this, she concluded that it must be her that must gain the power of a Messiah.
